It’s all about who you know.
It doesn’t matter if you’re starting a business, looking for a job, or planning your wedding- your network is your lifeline. Push aside disgraceful friendships from your youth, and brush up on your people skills. Adulthood has a strange way of weeding people out of your life, and usually, it’s for the better.
When I first got engaged, I told my family I wanted a small wedding because we didn’t have money. Zach and I had accumulated school debt, and neither of us had been out in the working world for very long.
Here’s the math I was looking at…
debt + low income = small wedding
Unless, of course, you know the right people.
Not only did my family and family friends contribute to our wedding fund, but I had a lot of talented friends to solicit for services. Now, before you call me cheap, let me tell you- it was the best thing I ever did. No, not everyone that helped us could afford to be free, but there were plenty of discounts to be had.
Keaton is one of our dearest friends, and he produced our wedding video.
He was one of Zach’s final roommates before marrying me, so we spent plenty of time together. Anyone who has had a roommate get engaged knows exactly what I’m talking about… I would show up at 8am on a Tuesday morning for Zach, and instead, find Keaton half-dressed and lounging on his couch finishing up a toaster strudel.
Needless to say, we were all very close.
Keaton was at the top of our “most missed” list after we left New York. And when I asked him to make us a wedding video? Not even a hint of hesitation. He flew down to Texas, equipment and all, and filmed our big day. It was absolutely perfect. Check it out here:
Seriously the best wedding ever!! I don’t think it could have been more beautiful or gone more perfectly!! I’m very blessed to have been able to share your special day with you! I also still have the bridesmaids’s bouquets hanging in my room! And I find myself often looking back at the pictures and video! Everyone did such a great job!!
Thank you 🙂 It’s such a pleasant memory. I literally would not change ONE thing about the entire day.
