When the chaos of your wedding day comes to an end, there’s nothing like starting your new life together with a refreshing vacation. Some of the most popular American honeymoon destinations include Mexico, Caribbean Cruises, and Euro-Trips, but for those of us that don’t want to fight the crowds or break the bank, there are other great options that don’t come up a lot in the conversation. Here are a few of our favorite spots.
Sea Island, Georgia // Population: 306
This tiny island is one of the Golden Isles of Georgia with unbeatable access to the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the island is privately owned, and it boasts two luxurious resorts that’ll take your breath away. It’s a great little spot, that is if you’re interested in the beach, golf, spas, and horseback riding.
Quebec, Canada // Canada’s 2nd Largest Province
If you’re not big fans of the beach and don’t have a bazillion dollars to take a euro-trip, then Quebec is perfect for your honeymoon. You’ll feel like you’re far, far away from the U.S. in this french-speaking country, and you can visit year round. There’s great skiing in the winter, and beautiful parks, museums and festivals in the summer.
Portland, Maine // Population: 66,000
They don’t call Maine “America’s Secret” for nothing. Not only do they have incredible seafood, but there are tons of beaches and beautiful hikes. Portland is the epitome of a picture-perfect New England town, and if you prefer to take it easy, they have great shopping and boat tours.
Malta // Mediterranean Island Country
This tiny country is an archipelago close to Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s way less crowded than Italy, and it has some of the best beaches in the world. If you want a secluded stay, visit the remote island of Gozo. Talk about a getaway with peace and quiet.
